I read with great interest your remedy for the malfunctioning temp control valve on the Force 10 water heater while you were in Canada. I have a similar problem. Would appreciate an answer to my question if you don’t mind. Sound stupid but when I try to remove the old TCV from the tank by putting a wrench on the hex nut at the tank entry point it does not come off. Is there a secret to this? How did you remove your old TCV? Would really appreciate a reply even though your project was done some five years ago. Adrian
Adrian, thanks for contacting me via our blog. Since I had the work done by a boat yard, I’m afraid I don’t know how the mechanic removed the valve, but if it appears to be threaded (perhaps you could tell from the parts diagram in the manual) it would have had to have been removed with a wrench. Perhaps the nex nut you’re referring to stays on the tank and the TCV screws into the nut!? I suggest giving that a try. I do remember that the boat yard mechanic didn’t seem to have any problem with the removal.
